Mr. Joyner is a 1998 graduate of the Citadel and is a registered professional civil engineer in several states. Throughout his career, he has held various positions in structural engineering design, as well as forensic engineering investigations and failure analysis.
Mr. Joyner comes from a strong structural design background. He has designed, detailed and sealed residential and commercial structures constructed from wood, masonry, concrete and steel, such as apartment buildings, log homes, bridges and culverts, water treatment plants, boardwalks, and broadcast and cellular communication towers. Also, Mr. Joyner has designed, detailed and sealed residential and commercial foundations including reinforced concrete spread footings, continuous wall footings, and deep drilled shafts, as well as steel, wood, and concrete piles. Many these structures were designed to perform in high wind and/or high seismic regions.
Mr. Joyner has performed hundreds of structural forensic investigations of various residential and commercial structures, such as traditionally framed homes, log homes, masonry, timber, and steel retail buildings, and pre-manufactured steel and masonry industrial facilities and aircraft hangers. Mr. Joyner worked many cases in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. Joyner has worked in various other fields of civil engineering, accumulating additional experience in soil, concrete and asphalt testing and investigation, pile driving and vibration monitoring, laboratory investigation of materials, and surveying.
