Roof Hail Damage Assessments

April 8, 2020 in News & Events

Roof Hail Damage Assessments in MI, IL, OH, IN, and WI

Last night, strong storms produced significant hail throughout the Midwest.   Our experts can assist with roof hail damage assessments.  We can also evaluate damage to siding, HVAC systems, and vehicles.  Although Covid-19 has forced many to work from home, U.S. Forensic continues to provide essential services to our clients.  We have the capacity to assist with hail damage evaluations in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Roof Damage Evaluations

U.S. Forensic has performed thousands of roof evaluations to determine the extent of wind and hail damage.  Our licensed engineers will conduct roof damage assessments to determine if damage is related to:

  • a recent storm event
  • improper installation
  • lack of maintenance
  • damage enhancement
  • end of useful life of materials
  • other contributing factors.

Our experts perform roof hail damage assessments of asphalt, tile, and wood shingles.  We can also evaluate damage to metal, modified bitumen, and other residential and commercial roof systems. When warranted, we assist with contractor estimate reviews and repair recommendations.

ROOF EVALUATION EQUIPMENT

roof damage assessmentsAlmost all roof evaluations are completed with engineers assessing the damage while positioned on the roof.  Close visual inspection and tactile examination is preferred, especially in cases where roof hail damage is suspected.  However, there are rare instances when a roof section cannot be accessed with customary inspection methods.  When this occurs, the following tools are available to our engineers.

DRONES

For difficult to access areas, U.S. Forensic utilizes a DJI, Phantom 3 Drone to photograph or video the structure or component in question.  For elevated positions that are not easily accessible by traditional methods, or  would require expensive lifts or equipment, the use of drones reduces costs and provides the accurate documentation necessary to move forward in the case.

Robot on roof

STEEP SLOPE ROBOT

Hard to access spaces are no longer off limits with the X-Bot Inspection Robot.  By using this innovative engineering equipment, our experts can access small dark crawl spaces, steep roofs, and structural compromised or hazardous locations by using the robot camera.  Operated by our trained experts, this inspection robot will document spaces through hi-def videos and photographs.
