Matt Ivory, P.E.
Matt Ivory, a mechanical engineer and accident reconstructionist, presented a course on Minor Impact Collisions to auto liability claims professionals in Dallas, TX. Mr. Ivory has designed and conducted crash tests for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Federal Highway Safety Administration, and the U.S. Department of State.
During the presentation, Mr. Ivory discussed his published research involving steering column loads and upper extremity motions during low-speed rear-end collisions as well as brake pedal response and occupant kinematics during low speed rear-end collisions. The video of the crash testing during the research was most helpful in illustrating what occurs when a driver is hit from behind. The video captured physical actions (upper body and foot position) of the drivers when expecting and not expecting impact as well as vehicle response (headrest, seat back, and seat belt).
Mr. Ivory’s forensic experience includes vehicle accident reconstruction, biomechanical analysis, and human factor analysis. He has evaluated and tested restraint systems, vehicle components, amusement park rides, and helmets, and has served as an expert witness in multiple cases.
