Working as a Forensic Engineer in Philadelphia
Brian shared, “The people at U.S. Forensic are great. There is always someone available if you need some feedback or support on a particular job. There is easy access to all 3 owners which I think is rare, particularly Mike DeHarde who never fails to pick up the phone when I call him. The opportunities to take on a wider variety of jobs keeps things fresh and interesting.”
Brian has over 20 years of experience in various design, construction and forensic analysis projects throughout the eastern United States. Based in Philadelphia, he has spent the majority of the past 7 years performing structural forensic analysis services for residential and commercial buildings that have been affected by wind, floodwaters, car and tree impacts, mine blasting and gas explosions.
Brian steps up to any and all challenges. He is a very thorough and picks up the subtle details which makes him an outstanding forensic engineer.” – Mike DeHarde, Principal Engineer
Getting to Know Brian
What is something people may not know about you?
There probably isn’t too much here, I’m mostly an open book. I guess if I had to pick something, it is probably that I’m super competitive when it comes to any type of game, particularly athletic. And in the words of Billy Beane “I hate losing more than I like winning.”
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy hiking and backpacking with friends and family. Winter mountaineering (more recently) but it’s hard to find friends and family members willing to come with me for that!
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
I have had the benefit of receiving lots of good advice over the years, but to point out a few, “If it’s worth doing then it’s worth overdoing.” “It is always better to be positive even though it is always easier to be negative.”
What was the best place you’ve traveled and why?
I have been to Alaska a couple of times and would say that Denali National Park, and seeing Mt. McKinley, was probably my favorite.
What is your favorite book or movie?
Favorite movies are “Rocky” and “Miracle.” My favorite book is “A Separate Peace” by John Knowles.
Who, in history, would you most like to meet over dinner?
George Washington (the ultimate underdog).
