Mr. Kaplon is a 1972 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a 1974 graduate of Colorado State University. Mr. Kaplon is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. His expertise is in the determination of cause and origin of fires and analysis of electrical problems including equipment failures and personal injury in the form of electric shock or electrocution.
His experience in fire investigation includes residential buildings, commercial buildings, automobiles and boats. Mr. Kaplon is widely regarded as a national expert in Ford automotive cruise control switch fires and has investigated and testified regarding these fires.
Mr. Kaplon has been investigating fires since 1979 and has been a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators since 1981. In that time, Mr. Kaplon has instructed in seminars in electrical fires for the Florida Arson Seminar, Georgia Fire Investigators Association Seminar, Louisiana State Fire Marshals Office and The City of New Orleans Department of Fire.
