We are pleased to announce that Colby Baker, P.E., has joined the U.S. Forensic team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Baker obtained his Bachelor & Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and eight more states.

Property Damage Evaluations
Prior to joining U.S. Forensic, Mr. Baker, P.E. served as a Forensic Structural Engineer for two forensic engineering firms where he evaluated the cause or extent of damage in more than 390 building failures involving commercial, industrial, and residential construction. He is experienced with a variety of building systems and components, including both commercial and residential roof assemblies; concrete, steel, wood, and masonry; commercial and residential building envelopes and fenestrations; and common floor coverings.
Premises Liability Evaluations
In addition to structural evaluations, Mr. Baker has conducted premises liability evaluations including slip and fall and trip and fall incidents. He is a certified English XL Tribometrist and has assessed the code compliance and slip-resistance of pedestrian walkways in order to evaluate their potential contribution to reported incidents.
Additional Experience
Mr. Baker has also served as a Structural Design Engineer where he provided building design, construction engineering, heavy-lift engineering, and connection design. He is a certified Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluator, Trainer, and Coordinator and a certified Residential and Commercial Roof Inspector. He is a member of several professional organizations including Structural Engineers Association (SEA), ASTM International’s Committee F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and others.
Mr. Baker has also served as an on-call EMT & Firefighter, First Aid and CPR Instructor, and has donated his time and talents to Habitat for Humanity.
