
We are pleased to announce that Sonya Kalisz, P.E. has joined the U.S. Forensic team as a structural expert in Miami, Florida. Ms. Kalisz holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She is registered as a licensed professional engineer in Florida.
ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
Ms. Kalisz has experience in the fields of structural, transportation, and water resources engineering. Additionally, Ms. Kalisz has experience with field investigation work regarding building recertification, construction administration work regarding building repairs, as well as assessment of building damages and losses due to weather conditions, fire and construction or design defects.
As a structural expert in Miami, Ms. Kalisz’s responsibilities include performing forensic investigations of structural related failures to residential and commercial structures. She conducts inspections of roof, flooring, and building envelope damage including exterior wall finishes, windows, glazing systems. She also performs site inspection to determine storm damage, water infiltration damage, and fire damage.
SPECIALIZED TRAINING
Ms. Kalisz has obtained specialized training in wind design and mitigation, hurricane inspection, and coastal engineering. She is also a Haag Certified Residential Roof Inspector and has taken several roof related courses including leak detection, roofing materials, and flexible membrane courses. Ms. Kalisz has specialized training in stucco evaluations, moisture intrusion, foundations, and commercial building systems.
