Mr. Skidmore obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University and completed graduate level courses in civil and environmental engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Colorado State University. He has over thirty years of experience in civil engineering in the areas of land development, hydraulics, and surveying, and is an experienced senior forensic engineer.
Mr. Skidmore’s professional experience includes residential and commercial land development projects, ranging from site feasibility studies to construction. He has reviewed engineering plans, and prepared project specifications, contract documents, and permits to ensure governmental and regulatory compliance. Mr. Skidmore has also conducted hydrologic and hydraulic studies, investigated and analyzed drainage systems, and designed storm-water conveyance facilities, detention ponds, and septic systems for residential, commercial, and institutional use. He also served in Uganda, Africa overseeing community development projects, including the design and construction of a community water supply project. This involved assessing the water supply, selecting the location to construct a dam, performing topographic surveys, designing the dam and water distribution system, and supervising all construction.
He has field and office experience in surveying, and has performed numerous boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys. He also has experience in geotechnical exploration, including quality control construction services. These include soil, concrete and asphalt testing, and construction inspection. He has performed investigations and evaluations of foundations and structures, as well as designing foundations and foundation repairs, including reinforced concrete and masonry block retaining walls, and has analyzed the mechanical properties of soil and beam deflections.
Mr. Skidmore’s specific forensic engineering experience includes years of performing site investigations to determine cause and origin of damage to houses, buildings, retaining walls, and pavements. He has also testified in court as an expert witness in forensic engineering.
