Flood Damage Evaluations: Structures & Equipment
U.S. Forensic conducts flood damage evaluations of structures. Our experts inspect foundations and buildings to determine the effects of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures of flood waters. We also assess damage caused by scour, erosion, and consolidation due to inundation. When warranted, we provide repair versus replacement options including costs.
Flood related damages to the mechanical and electrical components of buildings can also be determined. Our mechanical engineers assess the condition of elevators, escalators, HVAC systems, and other equipment to determine if damages are due to flood water or another source. Recommendations regarding full replacement or scope of repair are provided.
Basement Determinations & Sheathing Damage
We provide relative elevation surveys and positive drainage surveys to determine if a lowest floor is a basement as defined by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). U.S. Forensic assists on sheathing damage assessments, elevated building versus slab on grade evaluations, and flood in progress determinations.
Flood Databases
U.S. Forensic also maintains high water mark databases for all major domestic flood events. We can provide reports of maximum flood depths and wind speeds to assist our clients with flood damage evaluations, especially those involving concurrent wind and water damages. This data can also assist with cases where flooding has yet to be confirmed. For large events, U.S. Forensic can offer aerial footage immediately after the event. This information can be accessed electronically by our clients.
