SIU Evaluations
U.S. Forensic provides special investigation units (SIU) with fact-based evidence needed to assess cases. We conduct automotive and property SIU evaluations to determine how a loss occurred and whether or not the evidence matches with what is being reported.
Damage Consistency SIU Evaluations
Our experts perform damage consistency evaluations to identify whether or not damage could have been caused as described. These evaluations may include:
- Suspicious vehicle Collisions
- Low Speed Collisions
- Engine, transmission, or fuel system failures
- Hail or wind damage to vehicles or buildings
- Flood damage to vehicles or buildings
Key, Transponder, and Engine immobilizer Analysis
Our experts conduct key, transponder, anti-theft, and engine immobilizer systems analysis to determine how a vehicle was stolen and whether a key was used, duplicated, or the engine immobilizer was bypassed. These SIU evaluations may also include testing of fluids and major mechanical components to determine pre-theft or pre-fire vehicle condition. For more information, visit our Key Analysis & Post-Theft Evaluations page. You may also access our News and Events page to learn more about our Certified Forensic Locksmith, Mr. Jeff Stark, P.E., CFL.
EDR & Infotainment System Imaging
In addition to evaluating the scene, vehicle condition, diagnostic information, and other evidence, our engineers can image crash and infotainment data. For more information, access our website pages on Infotainment Downloads and Crash Data Recorders.
Airbags
Our experts inspect airbags to identify counterfeits, investigate fake airbag deployments, and exploring other fraudulent activities associated with airbags. Our experts authored an article featured in SIU Today, Counterfeit Airbags: How Do You Know and Why Should You Care?.
Vandalism Evaluations
Our SIU related evaluations include assessing vandalism claims. For vehicles and heavy equipment, our engineers assess the the facts of the case and gather evidence to assist clients in making a determination. These may include fuel contamination cases, property defacing, or damage to mechanical systems. Our experts can also evaluate damage to property such as water damage to determine if the evidence points to a recent vandalism event or a long term issue.
