Dr. Gupta is a graduate from Institute of Engineers in Delhi, India with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, graduate from Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India with a Master of Technology in Structural Engineering, and a graduate of The University of Sydney with a Ph.D. in Civil/Structural Engineering. During his more than 24 years of professional experience, Dr. Gupta has been involved with the planning, design, construction administration, and construction monitoring of numerous structures in the United States, Australia, South Africa, India, and Oman. He has specialized expertise in building design and systems, exterior building envelopes, highway and railroad bridge designs, bridge inspections, seismic and wind analysis and designs, bridge and building renovation/rehabilitation and alteration.
Dr. Gupta’s experience in building construction includes foundation systems, steel, masonry, and wood structural systems; fire-resistant construction, seismic and wind analysis, below-grade waterproofing, windows and doors, roof waterproofing systems, thermal insulation, including exterior insulation and finish systems, and interior finishes. Dr. Gupta’s experience in bridge construction includes steel bridges including trusses, reinforced concrete bridges, pre-stressed concrete bridges, wind and seismic retrofits, and routine to detailed inspections.
Dr. Gupta served as the board member of American Society of Civil Engineers – Structural Engineering Institute, Philadelphia Chapter (ASCE-SEI, Philadelphia Chapter). He has helped promoting ASCE-SEI, Philadelphia Chapter activities, arranging technical dinner meetings, and students’ scholarships. Dr. Gupta teaches structural engineering and bridge design/rehabilitation related courses to undergraduate and graduate students at the Temple and Widener Universities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has also taught similar courses at Drexel University, University of Kentucky, and many universities in Australia & India.
