U.S. Forensic is experienced in helping to rebuild after catastrophic events. We perform storm damage assessments to offer expert opinions as to whether damages are attributable to wind, water, surge, tornado, construction defects or long term neglect. We are experienced in ASCE wind load requirements, FEMA base flood elevation (BFE) requirements, and class action certification matters related to storms.
Storm Damage Assessments
We provide storm damage assessments related to wind, hail, tornadoes, and floods. Accessibility, method of repair, specific cause and extent of loss can be determined. Wind versus surge analysis, cost estimations, and determinations regarding storm damage versus long term maintenance issues can be provided. Services include:
- Wind vs Flood Damage
- Mechanical Damage Evaluation
- Extent of Damages
- Hail Damages
- Remedial Repair Design
- Flood Depth Determination
- Foundation Failure
- Contractor Cost/Scope Review
- Deferred Maintenance vs Wind
- Building Code Compliance
- Contribution of Construction Defects
- Feasibility of Repair Study
Roof Damage Assessments
U.S. Forensic has performed thousands of roof evaluations to determine the extent of wind and hail damage. Our licensed engineers will conduct roof damage assessments to determine if damage is related to:
- a recent storm event
- improper installation
- lack of maintenance
- damage enhancement
- end of useful life of materials
- other contributing factors.
Our experts evaluate asphalt, tile, and wood shingles. We can also evaluate roof damage to metal, modified bitumen, and other residential and commercial roof systems. When warranted, we assist with contractor estimate reviews and repair recommendations.
Flood Damage Assessments
U.S. Forensic conducts flood damage evaluations of structures. Our experts inspect foundations and buildings to determine the effects of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures of flood waters. We also assess damage caused by scour, erosion, and consolidation due to inundation. When warranted, we provide repair versus replacement options including costs. Flood related damages to the mechanical and electrical components of buildings can also be determined. Our mechanical engineers assess the condition of elevators, escalators, HVAC systems, and other equipment to determine if damages are due to flood water or another source. Recommendations regarding full replacement or scope of repair are provided.
